Burda Style For people who sew

I got this great wool blend that looks kind of like tweed and thought that Angela Kane’s pattern might be good for making a basic winter dress that I could wear to work. I made some modifications though, because I was worried about the bodice looking funny on me. Using the BurdaStyle Zoe pattern as a guide, I changed the arm holes and raised the bust darts. The result is a perfect bodice block that I can use for anything. Possibly the most useful thing that I could have. I also removed the pockets and changed the neckline. This dress is pretty simple but I really love it, and it was nice to find a basic pattern and style that is flattering. It’s comfortable and classy and looks great with a cardigan and tights.

I really like your version. In fact I notice you have submitted two versions. I love the tweed, in fact I am making it up again myself in a grey tweedy herringbone for spring.
I don’t get any notification when my pattern is submitted as a project and I haven’t checked for a while.
Although the free pattern is only available in one size on Burdastyle, it is available free in small/medium/large from my website angelakane.com

great job modifying the bodice! It suits you perfectly You’re right, it’s simple but very nice effect. I already used this pattern without modification and maybe make another one using your tip.
