Classical female tutu

Amsterdam, Nethe...

A classical tutu as made by late Miss Olivia Cranmer of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

I’ve had this pattern for a long time in the book ‘Beginning ballet’ by Joan Lawson and I always wanted to make the tutu. This was my first attempt, and it was great to see the tutu grow and grow.
I made this blue tutu for my friend. Iit’s her favorite colour and I’m glad she liked it very much!

Can you tell me, please, how many layers of tulle have you used and how does the satin waistband close exactly?

Sorry for the late reply!! I used 12 layers of tule and the satin waistband closes with a lot of hooks and eyes (if this is what you call them in english…). I put one popper at the top, just in case ;-)

Light and beautiful! It reminds me of blue dancers by Degas :)
