This was one of those unfortunate projects where despite all your hard work and forethought, things just don’t quite come together the way you imagine they will.
I still love the color combination, but the fabric was a stretch linen that weighed itself down and then after washing it puckered everywhere! The armpits were so saggy I had to make a dart into the piping just to be able to wear it. Lastly, the belt, which I thought would look really snazzy, just makes the waist look really thick.
It is the same pattern (Simplicity 8788, 1970) as my flamingo dress, but I opened the neckline. It is still wearable, I’m just nowhere near as enthused by it as I thought I would be. Plus, it has a pocket so I can wear it to work at least.
The colors were inspired by Calvin Klein.
Stretch linen, piping, shell buttons.
