Circus clown costume made for Halloween with separate jacket, corset and tutu. My first major project since I left college. I used my own pattern for the corset, simplicity 2525 pattern for the jacket and simplicity 2067 for the skirt.
I had to make some adjustments to the jacket pattern as I am very petite but i’m very busty so nearly every pattern i get has to be altered.
I was hoping to sell this costume afterwards but the sparkly gold paper lame material i used for the skirt, collar and cuffs frayed really badly from just general wear, it gives it quite a nice effect but it wouldn’t last long.
I made a matching mini top hat and poms poms for my shoes.
Duchess satin for jacket and corset
Liquid satin for jacket lining
Paper lame for skirt, collar, cuffs, bow tie and hat
Tulle for tutu underskirt
Metallic bias binding
Assortment of pom poms and feathers
