Description

Full circle skirt and Peter Pan collar. The skirt was made by hand except for the two 4+ metre hems!!! Both hemlines accentuated, the shell with bias binding and the lining with grosgrain ribbon. The collar is fastened at the back with a green button (same as the skirt). I feel very “peachy” in this little outfit :)

UPDATE- this is now a 3/4 circle skirt, less weight, less everything and much better for me :) Finished properly now with white embroidery at the lining hem.

Material Notes

Shell and lining both 100% cotton voile.
Interfacing for the collar.
Bias binding and ribbon for the trim.

I agree with LiverpoolFi, the ribbon makes the hem look wonderful. It has a wonderful shape and just a little bit of fullness. Nice job!

Love the idea of adding ribbon to accentuate hemlines. I’ve been thinking about doing this but having seen no one else do it I wondered if it was a bad plan. Now I see it’s a great idea – good detailing!

I’ve been using ribbon for a while, it is often inexpensive and adds a little touch that makes a project look a bit special…

Everything about it apart from the smoking is so stylish Marjorie, I wish I had those girls bodies! Unfortunately, my peasant heritage is becoming more apparent the older I get!

Yes the smoking and drinking is a bit much but I guess things were like that then. I get a bit angry with some of the male characters and wish some of the girls would speak up for themselves more. Aren’t our daughters lucky that things have improved so much!! And like you, my good Scottish and Scandinavian mature age figure has set in. I won’t even bother making a New Year’s resolution anymore, I am obviously meant to be well rounded. Oh well, have to sew more clothes!!

Pooh, I hate that inappropriate thingy, touched it again by mistake :(
What I meant to say Marjorie, is that getting a different figure is a good excuse to get some new clothes!
