Description
Have any of you noticed the pin-up worthy retro-inspired work of BurdaStyle member BlancheOfArts? If you haven’t yet— you’re in for a treat, as she has kindly shared her latest creation with us! Made from vintage cotton viscose. All edges are finished with navy bias tape; straps, pockets and hem completed with navy piping.
BlancheOfArts used the bodice of this dress and fused it together with a fun circle skirt for the bottom, instead of the pattern’s original gathered rectangle skirt. Be sure to download the free circle skirt pattern to view the tutorial to make your own. Note: The instructions for the circle skirt tutorial are not included in the project’s “instructions” download but the “pattern” download.
Material Notes
Self: 2 meters cotton viscose (2 1/2 yards); 2 meters (2 1/2 yards) dark blue piping, 2 meters (2 1/2 yards bias tape); 2 buttons.

I love the look of circle skirts, so flattering, feminine and classic. Especially love the fabric for this one because it makes it so original. However, it makes me sad because I can’t have a circle skirt of my own since it’s so windy where I am (even during summer) that it creates marilyn monroe type situations.. a lot. I’ve just stopped wearing the one I made, so keep that in mind everyone! Climate matters.. sadly.

I too adore 50’s retro and I have just cut out a bodice with a different skirt – this time a rectangle as I have a border print fabric. I adore the use of the blue piping – a lot of work !

I’ve been using a lot of piping lately. It brights up the whole garment but it does take a lot of time. :)

great! prekrasna je! tako retro, odmah bi ju napravila!!! al nazalost idem na odmor pa nema sivanja 3 tjedna, ali zato cu od moje bake koja ima sve burde izvadit si krojeva i krojeva :D al predobro si to napravila!!!

Hvala! I ja sam na odmoru kod svojihu Splitu, mislila sam bez mašine, ali je na kraju ipak stigla sa mnom. Tako svaki odmor, hehe. Joooj, šta bi dala za te stare Burde, na netu ako ih i uspiješ pronać, prodaju se za suvo zlato. :(
