this is a how- to for chudidar which is kind of an Indian version of leggings. Unlike normal leggings these are ruched at the ankles. The length is kept longer than the actual size and they are fitted at the ankle so they give a ruched effect when worn. The drafting may look scary and complicated but is actually quite easy if you follow the steps. This way you can make them according to your size. Use a stretchy material like jersey or stretch cotton or lycra so that they fit well. If you are using cotton or any other material which is not stretchy ,cut the pattern on bias grain to give your garment a stretch.

This is my fav fav fav pattern here, I just found it. PURE MATH, which I usually hate :)
Tomorrow, I will go to the store and buy a fabric for chudidar and after I’ll upload some pix.
Thank you!

Thank you so much for these instructions!! They are super-easy to follow and a nice variation of the common leggings.

Hey! This tutorial is great! But, do you know abuot how many yards I would need to make this?

Thanx for the tutorial! The versions of these that I find in te shops are usually a little too tight around my thighs, so if they are large around that area like AkuTyger said they would be ideal for me. Nice and warm under dresses for winter. :)

I also found the waist – knees to be on the big side and I had already modified the pattern quite a bit based on the previous comment, sizing things smaller. I’m not sure, but perhaps the pants are meant to be big on the top? Luckily the modifications I made will allow me to sew the seams in farther and make them fit. I do love this tutorial because it really gave me a perspective on measurements necessary for this kind of project.
