A holiday dress inspired by the one Chuck is wearing in the promo shoot for the series Pushing Daisies.
I used a Burda (magazine) pattern whose neckline, sleeves and skirt I modified. The dress is red lace underlined with a silk/cotton blend and lined with acetate.
My dress isn’t a cloned version of my inspiration: I chose to highlight the scalloped edge of the lace by letting it hang a little longer at the hemline and I left out the burgundy velvet ribbon belt (for fear of having to wear nothing but burgundy with the dress. Anyone else suffering from the same syndrom?). Also, knowing I would wear the dress on Christmas Eve, I allowed for a little more ease than the original so that I could eat (and breathe!) plenty. Oh, and I added pockets because, well, pockets!

WOOOWWW this is amazing! How difficult was it to underline the lace?

Thanks!
Underlining the lace was not that difficult: the lace, which has a little bit of stretch to it, had more of a tendency to shift against the silk blend than, say, cotton, but with careful (machine) basting it went without a hitch.
