Christening Dress from Wedding Dress

Added Sep 24, 2008

by bluevenice22

Doylestown, Penn...

Made baby Leia’s christening gown, underslip, from her mom’s wedding gown.
Also made a bonnet and blanket to go with it.

Material Notes

Mom’s wedding gown was satin, lace and appliqued lace and pearls.

Mixed up parts of patterns (Butterick, Simplicity) and made some things up as I went along.

What an awesome recycling project! It makes me so happy that her daughter gets to wear mom’s wedding dress and yet can choose to get married in something that suits her when she’s older. If I didn’t wear my wedding dress to balls still… well, maybe I’ll still cut it. We’ll see :D
