Description

I love so much to search at ancient burdas and find little treasures! I made this a couple of years ago and I simply adore this pattern, especially for the effect of cap sleeves that it creates. It is model 130 from issue 05-2004 (the scetch and the fashion shoot are shown at the last pictures). I have revisited this particular issue so many times that I have sewn more than half of the patterns.
I used a lovely, shiny, thin and drappey lycra.
Do you like my almost vintage dress?

Beautiful dress! Your choice of material is much better than in the magazine. it is now a totally different dress! I have thought about making this dress so many times. Burda patterns are so good they never go out of fashion!

Thank you very much for kindly commenting on this, I love to read comments from ladies who know the old burda issues:) You are right about the burdas, many of them are timeless and others come back in style. Burda is also fashion forward so it’s ok if you make something after a couple of years. The funny thing is that I didn’t like this model when I bought the issue, but now after so many years I used it. And it is not the first time that this happens:)

Once again, your version is soooo much better than the original. The fabric drapes so nicely it makes it look very comfy. I think I am inspired! Thank you for sharing!

Oh really? Well maybe you will make it sometime…it is really a very nice pattern, so easy to sew and to wear….why not now?: summer is coming!! What fabric had you bought for it? Did you use it for something else or just kept it in your stash?

This issue has several pretty pieces, I think that is the most used issue I’ve bought.

Love this girlfren….the style is great and you look good in the brown. I prefer the old burdafashion than this burdastyle since the last 3- 4 years.

What a gem! I would make that in a New York minute! The color looks great and gives it an earthy feel. As always your styling is impeccable. Wish I would have known about Burda way back then!

Oh, you didn’t know about burda? In my country burda was almost the only pattern source when I was young.

No, I just found it in the summer of 2011. When I was young I sewed mainly Butterick and Simplicity. I am thinking I should get a subscription to Burda Style Magazine, but wonder whether the current patterns would be relevant to me now.

Why not be relevant to you? Can’t you buy seperated issues instead of having a subscription?

The styles I see on the web site seem like they’re for someone much younger (and thinner) than myself. That said, I’m may just treat my self to a subscription anyhow…why not? I do love the Danielle pattern. I’m thinking I may just use it for the yellow knit sitting on my cutting board right now.

I don’t think that the burda patterns are only for very young and skinny people!! Come on Bee Zee! Buy seperated issues, why pay so much money and stash so many unused magazines?

But how to tell what patterns are in what issues? I would buy the one with your Chocolate dress in – but that’s from 2004. When I searched last night I didn’t see anything before 2007…and most of them were not in English.

If you want to buy past issues from burda you must search on ebay or some similar site to buy them from someone who has them (you can’t buy them from burda company).
If you want to see very old issues go here:

The funny thing is that most of the current issues I buy remain with the pattern sheets attached to the inside:) Maybe 10 years later they will see some use. This makes me feel less guilty for the money I spent without using them:P.

thats so true. I have issues fron the last couple of years which still have the patterns intact. I n some issues i sometimes don’t see anything i want to make but maybe a year or two later i’ll look again and bingo i ser something. Its the same with the older burdas liliv, i always go by the line drawing as there where some pretty hideous outfits about in the 80’s but also some fab necklines etc.I wish burda would recogomise this so we can link the old burdas, at the moment you can only add a link to a pattern a couple of years back?? any further and burda dos’nt have them in their library x
