The inspiration for this dress was a Vera Wang dress, I loved the idea of two tones of tulle and a splash of color. The biggest headache with not using a pattern was having to go through so much invisible thread to try and get the gathered areas to lay properly. Oh, and I also made the cake toppers complete with coordinating bride and groom outfits.. probably my favorite part!

Sigh. So very, very beautiful! I love the simple elegance, and that amazing flow from the back. Also that you used blush tulle and the black waist band.

Thanks for the great feedback, I really appreciate it! I’m not sure what Bride Wars is, but the inspiration dress was very similar to the one I made, a friend of mine actually found the image for me, I’m not sure where she got it, I just think I remember her saying it was Vera Wang. As for how long it took to make, I’m not quite sure, I worked on it here and there, whenever I had the house to myself. It really wasn’t terribly complicated though, the shell is all one off white-stretchy material and once I had that made it was just a matter of bunching the tulle up properly, hope that answers questions!

Was the Vera Wang dress from “Bride wars” your motivation?
