When I was just a little girl, I asked my mother: what will I be?
Will I be pretty? Will I be rich? Here’s what she said to me:
“Well, I’ll make you a nice pair of shorts in which you can play and discover the world, and then you can decide what you want the future to bring for you.”
So I spent hot spring days and cool summer evenings playing and running around in these shorts, learning, laughing, exploring, and, most importantly, not worrying about the future.
Now I’m not such a little girl anymore, and I still don’t know what the future has in store for me. But whatever it is, I’ll always have a beautiful childhood to look back to. With the leftovers from the fabric my mother used for my childhood shorts, I made a new pair of shorts. Whenever I feel the need to be a ten-year old girl again that has nothing to do but play, I just put on my shorts and go ape in our backyard.
Ah…Life is beautiful.
