After attempting the Cate Dress pattern on easy-to-manage cotton. I tried my skills on a chiffon with lining.
I am not really sure how to word this in sewing lingo. Basically I studied the SGD 260 dress that they sell off the rack at Forever New and Ted Baker's and learnt that they dun just gather the bodice part but rather they sewed it across so that the gathers stays. So... - I made pleats and sewed each pleat across - Instead of having the zip sewn to the back of the dress - which may bunch up if I choose to wear it with a wide belt, I sewed the zip at the side. I only paid SGD 60 for the fabric in total - for 4m of chiffon plus lining. Versus the SGD 60 that I would have paid at the store. And lower skirt is very flare.
