This is a modified Vogue pattern. I made this as a diaper bag for my friend who is FINALLY having her baby girl!
The red snakeskin is from a vinyl thrifted bag. (I've included a photo of said bag) The short handles are also derived directly from this bag. I used Peltex for interfacing to keep it stiff on the front, back and bottom. I used pellon craft bond on the sides.

What an adorable bag! Would you share the secret to sewing thick vinyl. Special needle?

Actually, the vinyl was not very thick once I removed the interfacing. I did use a leather needle, though. The tough part was turning the vinyl pockets/flaps. When using fabric, you simply iron it and top-stitch. You can’t iron vinyl. Thanks for your comment!

As well as a leather needle, you should use longer stitches to avoid tearing at the seams. I did a lot of hand-turning while top-stitching as well. Vinyl and leather don’t “heal” themselves like fabric, so any needle holes from mistakes will show. Probably more info than you needed, but I had to share just in case.

Excellent! What a great gift. I love to take apart ready-made bags for projects like this, too.

I’m happy the handles transferred so readily. Constructing them would have added an extra afternoon of work to this project.
