I finally managed to get my hands on a copy of Chic & Simple sewing this week and quickly whipped up this dress that I’m very happy with :) It’s modified a bit from the original pattern, I cut a shorter skirt and omitted the ruffle and once I tried it on I decided the tie shoulders were a bit impractical so I quickly adapted them by sewing them down and adding vintage mother of pearl buttons.
The pattern was simple to follw cos there weren’t many steps and best of all – no zipper! The waist does look a bit crazy (not sure if that’s my fault or the pattern’s) but I wrapped the waist belt around few times to cover it and I much prefer it that way :)

2m of some random synthetic material £1/m - very forgiving and camouflaging! Vintage buttons

Thanks :) The print really is quite crazy, when I was cutting the pieces out I was just piling them up and you couldn’t tell there was more than one piece there, like a magic eye picture ;) xk

I really love the way this print drapes, it almost hides the folds, yet still keeps with the silhouette…very nice!
