I saw a very cute top in a shop (last picture), and I decided to make the same.
It is very simple, and I love it!
I used a wide T shirt pattern (not for knits), I modify the sleeves into raglan sleeves, then widened the neckline so it can be worn off the shoulders, I cropped it, and then I sewed 5 rows of smocks using elastic thread at the neckline, the sleeves, and the bottom.
Elastic thread was fun, it’s very easy and the results are great!
I think I should have made the neckline even wider, because it doesn’t stand on the shoulder by itself, it’s always coming back closer to the neck.
I also should have make shorter and smaller sleeves.
So… Now I have to make another one with all these modifications!
Elastic thread

That really is such a cute top. So satisfying to find something you like and then make it your own… and even better!
