I made this dress earlier this year but never quite managed to get some decent photos, despite my wearing it non-stop!
The pattern is Simplicity 5663 from 1964. It features a genius front pleat to do away with such bothers as darts, and really adds a sweet detail. My grading was a bit shoddy but that’s all been fixed now, and the gaping neckline (a result of my shoddy grading) was fixed with a CF dart. I will grade this better next time and make a sequel too!
I adore the fabric. It’s bright and cheerful and a lovely soft cotton, bought on sale for only $8 a metre. In saying that though, it was possibly just a bit too soft for this particular pattern, but you live and learn!
