Description
Cheeky Panties are fun and easy to make, perfect for your first project using knit fabric.
The panties have a lowered-waist, hipster cut with either a slightly cheeky behind or a decidedly cheeky behind, depending on both the stretchiness of the knit you use for the panties and the fleshiness of the bottom that fills them (they’re quite cheeky on me due to the prminence of my posterior. They look far less cheeky in the pictures because Ms Dressform has a teeny little botty). These panties are also comfortable despite said cheekiness- you know how years and years ago when g-strings first came out, the buzz was all “Oooooh, they’re sexy and like, so! comfortable!” when in fact they’re like, so! neither! Well these panties actually, uh, fulfil the brief, as it were.

Just made these “Cheeky Panties” and I love them. I printed the pattern, read through the instructions and went straight to my sewing room to get started. This was my first time making panties. Never had to reread the directions and never had a problem. The only thing I changed was the leg elastic, I added bands to the legs the same as I did the waist. Thank you for such an easy, free pattern. I’ll be making many more.

does it need elastic thread or just normal thread? I want to hand sew before deciding to get a sewing machine. thank you.

My Mum used to sew by hand when she was a teenager because she didn’t have a sewing machine. She used a back-stitch and I think she sewed her seams twice. That stitch has built in stretch, and sewing it twice will strengthen it.

I just made these in a size 38 out of one of my husband’s old shirts. I am DELIGHTED with how they turned out — I haven’t sewn a garment in more than 15 years but this pattern was wonderfully simple. The fit is quite snug, but I think that’s just because I was in denial about my measurements. I can easily customize for my cheeks next time. Thank you so much!

I love your panties! Made a pair already, had to ‘adjust’ the size a little to account for my extra booty :P, but they are super cute and comfy! thanks so much for the pattern!

Thanks Jj! I actually just bought the dressform yesterday, I got it at a second-hand dealer. There’s no brand name on it. It’s hollow and made of fibreglass, with a woven cotton cover. I already had a dressform but it had no legs so I was glad to find this one and I snapped it up straight away!
