This great chess fabric was another find from the wonderful Fabric Cave. As is often the case with fabric from there, this was only a small piece – something like 90cmx115cm. In an ideal world I’d have been able to centre the print better, but you have to do the best you can with what you’ve got with these small pieces.
The yellow trim fabric was also from the Fabric Cave. It’s heavier than the chess fabric, so the bottom band is a little stiffer than I’d like. Hopefully it will soften up a bit after a few washes.
Pattern is McCalls 5659 – the same as my deer dress, I just shortened the pattern to top length.
