For the reverse applique portion of the jacket, I initially sketched a design and made the design into a stencil. I used the stencil and chalked the design onto the exterior fabric in a repeat fashion. I basted an underlying fabric to the exterior fabric and began a handstitched running stitch around the outline of the design. Once the handstitching was complete, I cut the reverse applique, revealing the underlying fabric. The shape of the jacket is very boxy, similar to a t-shirt with drop shoulders.
