This is my first time working with tweed. I used Simplicity Pattern #2927. The dark trim is the underside of the fabric and I frayed the seams along the front, at the shoulders, and at the bottom (I added two more rows above the hem that I frayed as well). It has sort of a vintage feel to me-maybe it’s because of the tweed.

This dress is so neat, love the added details. I have this pattern and made the top, the dress looks so much better.

The background is great so I’m going to confess that I cut and pasted my image onto it because my little apartment isn’t photograph worthy. Plus it’s about 20 degrees F where I live.

I have this pattern! I just can’t figure out what fabric to use to make it. This is a great option. Looks great on you!

Because I used wool I had to line the dress so that’s something to keep in mind. I also have some white fabric with a black faux lace print on it. I thought that would look cool if I brought the hemline in to make it more fitted at the bottom.

Ooh, yes. That would make a good cocktail dress!
There’s a dress on ModCloth that is very similar and it’s in a plaid:
ModCloth: The Kirwan Dress
It’s shorter and the skirt more fitted. I’ve been keeping this in mind, too.
