Chanel Inspired Bouclé Swing Dress for Spring

Added Apr 18, 2013

by Trudy McGrath

Somewhere, Ireland

I used this pattern for the upper part of the dress : Tweed Dress 12/2012 #133

Traced size 36 WITHOUT seam allowance…I’m between sizes I think and I find patterns a bit too big to my figure, however, do leave allowance for sleeves and hem as indicated!

For the skirt I drafted my own pattern by measuring my waist and dividing that number by 6.28 cm. that is the radius. Drawn a circumference with that radius then added 41 cm to that radius and drawn a bigger circumference. I guess it is just easier to follow the instructions here, except you are not making a peplum but a swing/circle skirt with this draft
I’m rushing to upload this project so if you have any questions please ask and I’ll get back to you:)

The fabric itself is a beautiful emerald green/silver/black buckl too bad the pictures don’t do justice!!!

more later x

Absolutely beautiful – it’s a work of art. Treasure it! It looks beautiful on you and I love the fringing and use of raw edges. ( I did something similar on a skirt I made a year ago. I still haven’t posted it on here – I must!)

The circle skirt works brilliantly :)

Thank you so much! I used a few new techniques I never used before to make it look a little bit more professional :) I must also mention that I had You in mind (honestly) because your attention to details is absolutely amazing and very inspiring! I really don’t have time just before summer exams but I will try your petal red dress as I loved it so much x

I will check your site and email you once I have time to work on the dress. I love minimalism but your projects touched my “romantic side” :) thank you for your support!
