Carol is BurdaStyle’s Partnership manager. She travels a lot for her job and makes sure she is dressed in her favorite BurdaStyle pieces to model our vision. Originally based off the Maddy Top, we took our plaid Celeste Dress, adjusted the length and width to suit Carol’s petit frame and styled this look with white ankle socks, gray lace-up shoes and accessories.
The complexity of the style lines in this pattern offer a challenge to advanced sewers; you can play with the symmetry of striped or plaid fabrics to make a visually stunning dress or top. Medium-weight fabrics are recommended for this dress.
2 1/4 – 2 7/8 yards (2,25 2,60 m.) green and blue plaid Twill. Back invisible zip

Love the lines, great re-style. The socks really don’t do the model any favours though, she would look stunning in a pair of heeled sandals.

Cute! I like wzrdreams’ idea of making this in a double knit.

This would make a lovely “little black dress” sans the socks! ;-)

Love the dress! The socks look dorky with it! Try a spring sandal!

Love the dress – hate the socks! I would have preferred leggings, ankle or knee-high boots with this dress. Very cleverly arranged fabric – that must have taken some time to figure out.

Oooh!…Love it ! But silly white sox and high heeled Victorian shoes the good match for this dress style ? ugh! No way!

I honestly do not see the difference between the original celeste and the restyled version.

Hey Emily,
The Restyle is where show how the old dress can be worn/ slightly updated in an new style. The remake is when we re make the piece in new fabric

I love this dress and look over all, minus the white socks.

Very nice re-style. It’s nice to see how plaids and stripes can be handled in a drapey design. Personally, I think I would try this in a medium weight double knit.
