This dress is a variation of the Maddy top. As with the Maddy, you can play with different weights of fabric or patterns. The seams of the dress allow you to match up stripes or plaids in interesting ways. Go for a lighter fabric, but be aware that the gathering may be a bit harder to sew. Staystich the gathering before attaching it to the next pattern piece to make things easier.

It’s really cute, but the pattern is a disappointment! It doesn’t make sense to add that much bulk under the bust with 2 pieces of fabric, interfacing, and the lining. I hate the waist seam on the back. The results is ok, but I would do it differently next time!

Now I want to make this! The bias cut plaid really brings out the design.
