Mc Lean, Virgini...
For my school’s “dress your best” spirit day, I decided to make a floor-length dress out of recycled materials. It was a pain to make, but I turned heads all day and won the costume contest!
The bodice is made from black trash bags and is lined with muslin. I put in my (first!) zipper, and drafted the pattern on my dress form. The skirt is made from black trash bags with layered caution tape tiers. The plastic was hard to sew because it slips and if you pin it, the holes stay. It was super hard to walk in, but it was so much fun— especially to twirl in.
