A pain to make, mostly because the instructions are for a slightly different dress – one with a bubble hem, and interfacing and boning, and a few extra mystery pieces that don’t appear in the pdf. One good picture of the inside of the bust made it doable, though, and it turned out to fit perfectly.

Interesting fabric! As if the whole dress was made bespoke for this model: it suits her hair, eyes and complexion perfectly

I don´t particularly like the technical drawing, but I like the dress in person. Although I assume anything would look good on this model…! :) Also, I love her necklace, but is the closure supposed to be in the front?

I just competed a floor length version of this dress. With the skirt on the straight grain, it’s not flattering on anyone larger than pixie sized, which, unfortunately, I am not. A belt solved that problem, though. I really enjoyed this pattern, though I’m certain someone with more sewing experience would have made it much better. Still, I think I’ll make a sun-dress version of this next year.

The sweater is actually by a friend of ours, who let us use her clothing line for her shoot. Her line is called Spring and Clifton, you find her clothes online and in a couple of stores. Her current site is down right now, but you could just google her.

That is what I was thinking. A cute cotton print would make an adorable summer outfit! I think you would have to gather lass fabric around the bodice though because it will not fall the same as the silk. You don’t want to puff out in the stomach area…that is just not flattering!

where is the pattern for the Cape/shrug? Couldn’t the dress be made for an evening after a day at the beach or the museum? Out of a CRISP material….no lining? Just remove the lining….use the IDEA….not the Exact Pattern, right? Isn’t that what Sewing for Yourself rather than BUYing is all about?

This is absolutely amazing, though I don’t think I would attempt it with my lacking sewing skills right now. But someday, wow, if I had an occasion, I would make this dress.

Wow. It’s so pretty. I’m not sure if I like the length, but I love the top part and the fabric you chose.
