Description

It’s the second of two dresses because I decided to make it while I was finishing the first cotton one version. I realised that I have a wool fabric that was still waiting for “its pattern”, and that dress was quick and easy to make, just perfect for a quick dress to be worn now, when it’s so freezing.
I bought this fabric some time ago and it turned out I had 145 cm na 260 cm, just enough to make a full circle skirt and the kimono sleeve top, very 1950s.
I covered all the seams with a bias tape, I also added black bias tape to the neckline and the bottom hem for a colour accent. The hem was left overnight to stretch but I decided not to correct it and just left it how it was – longer at the front and back. There’s one thing I don’t like about this dress – the colour… It’s a black-beige combination and it’s so not my first or even the third choice… I bought the fabric online and from the photos I imagined it to be black-white, and now I think I’ll have to wear it with colourful sweaters and accessories to be happy about it. We’ll see.

I love your dress! Does it zip on the side, or in the back? Thanks!

Nice choice of the pattern for the fabric, looks pretty original, the black bias realy accents the construction very well and adds playful note to the classic glen check ( if I see the fabric right).

Thank you! I had to add the black tape, without it it was too grey for me. :-)

Lovely dress and you can do so much with this. Just about any colour cardigan can be added plus belts scarves etc. Lovely job x

This is a very pretty dress, I especially love the black edging and belt, they really add that certain ‘something’.

Thank you very much! My thought exactly, without them the dress seemed too invisible.
