I found this idea on the Sew Weekly website through a blog (cation designs). She made this same capelet from a large cashmere scarf. I also had a large cashmere scarf I never wore because it was to big. I decided to transform it to a capelet and it turned out pretty well. Now I will wear the caplet.
I used pattern butterick 5032, added 3 inches to make it a little longer.
Cashmere scarf (cream), lining and one covered button.

really beautiful! Here in Germany it is minus 10 until 12 degrees at day – this cape worn over a slim-fitting, long cashmir coat (in the same color) and for the hands a muff (is it the right name for it?) That is the perfect ensemble for the hole winter-season!

Awesome way to turn something you might not have used to something so elegant and classy.

Haha how awesome…I just came over to Burdastyle to post my capelet! Yours looks lovely, although I see we both had the undercollar flipping out issue. So glad that you could make use of your scarf.

Thanks for the inspiration, I just love the color of your capelet. Yes the under collar does have a flipping out issue. I cut it out this morning and had it done by the afternoon. My scarf still had the price tag on it, been in my drawer for a long time taking up space. It now has a new life :-)
