This is my entry in the BERNINA 3 Series competition.
I was inspired by fashion of the 18th century as I fell in love with the costumes in the film ‘Casanova’.
I drafted the pattern myself. There are 3 little pleats in each sleeve cap.
There’s a hand-picked side zip and I also added a waist stay which makes it super comfortable to wear.
The gathers at the skirt were done completely by hand (I made 2 rows of running stitches and then gathered. I felt like I had more control over the whole thing than I have when I do this by machine.)
I sewed the lace in after the dress was finished because it was a bit too open-hearted for my taste.
100% (stretchy) cotton

It’s like a slightly more modest version of Burda Style’s 10/10 #116 dress. I can see your inspiration in the chest bit, especially in the lace, but I like that the dress is totally wearable despite its origins. It looks nice, and that red is just beautiful!

I think this is a really cool dress – would love to see a close-up of the sleeve pleats.
