Carnival is quite big where I live (Switzerland and Southern Germany). Kids love to put on costumes. The coming Sunday there will be a big “procession” and for the theme of “Noah’s Arch” we were asked to participate as animals. For my daughter I made this Panda Bear costume, based on the pattern 152, January issue of the Burda magazine.
The matching mask I made myself with papier mch – stripes of newspaper and wallpaper paste. The framework was a inflatable beach ball. It made a first cover, had it dry and added a second layer. After everything was dry I glued the fake-fur-fabric and the ears (pattern 143, 1/2011) on the “head”, cut holes to look out and put the nose on. For glueing I used the glue gun.
