I’ve always wanted a CD case/holder for my car, but I either wasn’t able to find one or (more honestly) too cheap to buy one. I found this pattern (Direct link: http://pukingpastilles.com/?p=517) through www.allfreesewing.com, and I knew I’d finally be able to make my own CD holder with some old fabric/t-shirts I had lying around. I used the pattern as a basis for my own version, and here’s the result!
I originally used Corduroy and some old t-shirts (knit). However, I’d recommend 1) Following the directions a bit more closely than I did 2) using a light to medium weight, non-stretch fabric. However, any non-stretch fabric or stretch fabric+interfacing should work. Non-stretch helps hold the CDs better when dealing with crazy traffic, and prevents you from potentially get rained on by one or more of your CDs. (Not that I know this from experience, of course. ahem) I also used about an inch (~2.5 cm) thick elastic to keep the holder around my visor. That has worked great, so I’d highly recommend it!
