A few weeks ago at work we decided it would be good if we all came in the next week wearing capes. Somewhere along the line we got a bit mixed up and started discussing cakes rather than capes so we decided to make it cape and cake week. Then, for no good reason other than wanting to, we also decided to add certificates into the mix; hence Cape, Cake and Certificate Week.
I made my cape from a fleece blanket I got from a local home store, I cut it into a large circle (this cape is great for swirling in) which I slit to the middle, cut out a little circle for the neck and added a hood. It was really simple and easy to make. I then decided it would be a good idea to finish the edges with blanket stitch, a full circle cape takes a lot of blanket stitch! However, I’m pleased with the result and it’s very cosy so I’m glad I went to the trouble. I finished it off with a pretty purple button and ribbon to fasten it.
