Description
Double breasted winter coat. I was asked to make this by a friends husband, for a Christmas gift. He wanted something red, with a large collar. It was definitely the most labor intensive thing I have ever sewn. I was really happy with the outcome. I started with the foundation of the Hikaru coat and then altered the crap out of it. I raised the waistline, lengthened the peplum, made it double breasted instead of zipper, added a tailors vent and belt, put a completely new collar on it, and used a different sleeve as the Hikaru sleeve was way too tight and constricting. The original princess seams gave it a really nice fit.

I got it in Atlanta at Gail K fabric. It’s really the only fabric store in the area that carries a selection of nice garment fabrics.
