I think the problem is the side seams are too wide, they don’t curve in under the arm holes.
Otherwise it would look ok.
Can you re cut it?

I definitely could, and possibly will after I get over the frustration! lol. thank you for that suggestion
the fit isnt the only problem, the materials simply do not finish well together and so despite my efforts with my serger, twill tape and other means of finishing, the inside is still ugly =(
