These are silk ties based on the David pattern. Instead of closures, I used 3/8 (10 mm) buttons. I’d suggest making your buttonholes vertically a little more than 1/2 inch apart.
I used drapery interlining as a single layer for my interfacing. It keeps the bows nice and full. You can also cut the ties on both the crossgrain and the bias unlike neckties which are best on the bias.
