sketched and drafted this blouse myself after inspiration from 1940s fashions. It has a heart shaped yoke with pleats on the bodice part. the lower section is a semi-circle attached at the wait. it has a keyhole in the back with a nice button and there is also ties to pull it in at the waist. It started out as a dress with a hemline in the middle of my thighs but because i cant pull the waist of it in (because it makes the pleats open up too much) it felt too frumpy to i made it a blouse which will hopefully be more wearable. I made it about 2 months ago and still haven’t worn it, i think also cos the colour was a bit too blah as a dress.

thank you so much for all the lovely comments! If you want to make a blouse similar all you will need is a bodice sloper and sleeve sloper. I will create a drawing which shows you where you make the adjustments to create the pattern for yourself. check back soon :) I learnt to make my sloper (and a bunch of other handy skills) from www.vintagesewing.info it is a really great site. or you could download one of the standard sized ones off this site but a custom made one is definitely worth the effort.

I love this blouse. I agree the colour may be too overpowering for a whole dress, but I think it looks great the way made it. Did you use a particular pattern? I would really love to make something with a heart shaped yoke -it looks really lovely. Maybe a how-to?! : )

That’s great! Very beautiful blouse, I’m impressed you designed it yourself. It is not something you would find in the store, and that’s why I love it. You should wear it more often!

You must wear this out, because people will ask you where you got such an amazing, unique top and you will be able to smile and say ‘oh, I made this myself.’ It’s beautiful.

I love this – especially the pleats and the heart-shaped yoke! I think the colour is fabulous too – would look great with an aubergine purple!
