This is my modification of the classic super popular “Walk Away” dress from Butterick. The dress has an inner portion you wrap and secure in the back like an apron. The outer portion includes a full circle skirt which fastens in the front. My issue was when I made it according to the instructions, it looked lumpy and frumpy

I tossed this in my “to alter” pile and ignored it for um 2 years. This summer I decided to make it work.
I cut the under part of the dress into a bodice adn skirt. I darted the bodice to make it fit, and made the bottom sort of a pencil skirt. This really improved how it looks. The back/side is a little too large, but honestly when you’re wearing bright pink and green no one really notices that.
cotton polka dot fabric, poly cotton lime green fabric, purchased black bias tape.
