Butterick 5640- Misses dress with different variations. This is loose fitting unlined dress with front and back gathers. A faced midriff and a 22" zipper with pocket, collar, and belt tie options.
I chose not to have a collar, belt ties, or pockets. I wanted to keep my dress simple and instead of a basic LBD have a LRD. I did not do any special modifications to the pattern.
This pattern was very basic and straightforward. The instructions were easy and construction time was fast.

The pattern advises you use lt. weight broadcloth, linen, chambray, denim, or sateen. I chose the broadcloth because I wanted to keep the dress casual and light. I think you could use just about any fabric that has a crisp/soft hand, but it would depend on your style and taste.
