Butterfly Blouse

Denver, Colorado...

Vintage McCall’s pattern from the early 60’s. I know the print is a bit much, but I love it. Stayed true to the pattern with just some bias tape embellishments and an extra butterfly below collar. The extra butterfly is stitched on at the body only, allowing the wings to be free and have motion. I wore it this afternoon to my son’s school and the children were very delighted. I had many requests to touch the butterfly.

Material Notes

Printed Cotton and Bias Tape

Garment Type
Casual, Vintage

I definitely do not think the print is a bit much! It’s darling! I love the embellishment you made with the butterfly on your shoulder. Now that is sweet!

Found it at a local fabric swap event. No markings in the selvedge unfortunately.

Gorgeous, love the butterfly! How did you cut it/seal the edges to prevent fraying?

Backed it with a light weight fusible interfacing and used a product called Fray Check, a liquid seam sealant usually used for ribbons.
