Description
Slowly it becomes obvious: I am addicted to colours! I love almost all colours, above all the pure vibrant ones, but also the pastels, neons, metallics etc etc etc. I love playing with colours, combine them and see how they take effect on each other and together.
As I saw this fabric in the store, I knew it instantly: this would be my next project.
Because my wardrobe has a deficit in green and blue :-)
But my project delayed, because in the meantime I got my first and hot desired serger (the “helicopter” as my husband calls it :-)). I had seen such a thing only in pictures and I was rather afraid of it. In the store they didn´t offer a guidance for it, so I had to fight with it by myself. It took me one week until I brought the “helicopter” to flying, but it brought me to desperation with the permanent threading and needle changing (I wanted to try all stiches!) and also with denial of sewing! But now I am very happy with it: finally I can make beautiful serged edges, this look rather professional!
Eventually I could start my new project: I chose the Vogue Pattern V8020, but I didn´t know, which size I am. So I startet with 6, then I tried 10 and then 8. Fortunately I made a muslin, more precisely 2, with countless changes and fittings. At the end 8 was the right size, with just tightend it a little bit.
Then came the fashion fabric – a wonderful cotton jacquard – and it was the mere pleasure to work with it. The dress is fully lined, in orange! because I love the combination green-orange since years and it also matches the butterflies. And look, some more butterflies and flowers came besides :-)

You’re right. Similar, but Vouge’s 8020 waist looks a biter and two more pleats.

It’ s perfect, the print, the colours, the lining, what to mention first?…… it’ s absolutely adorable! How did you make the flowers at the lining?

Looks like a perfect fit now! It’s nice to know I’m not the only one having a hard time figuring out sizing and having to make and seam rip out a lot. But your efforts paid off. I love the dropped waist. There is a James Bond movie where the leading lady (Greek) wears a black dropped waist dress when she goes shopping in town. I’m hoping to make that some day and this pattern looks similar.

It´s my first Vogue pattern, and they seem to give very much ease in the dresses. Corresponding to the size table I should be a 10 or 12, but the waist of the final garment would have been 16cm bigger than my waist! So I was very confused. Now I hope 8 is my basis size with Vogue also on other dresses. Well, I didn´t know I have now a James Bond Girl dress :) Thank you!

do a swap,, the same fabric just reversal role,, unless you cant get anymore,, the weight would be the same,, mind you I can see you with an orange dress and dark blue lining

hi flowergrirl, well, swaping with the same fabrics is not really possible, because the fashion fabric is rather thick and the lining is thin… anyway, an orange dress is now on my wishlist. :) but another pattern, I have already an idea :)
