I used BurdaStyle’s August 2012 (#111) skirt pattern as the base. I raised the waist and added a flared bustle piece to the back as an accent. For the raised waist, I used a great facing technique from the book, “The Dressmaker’s Handbook of Couture Sewing Techniques” — channel-stitched hair canvas interfacing, silk organza pockets and rigilene boning for structure.
Wool crepe (main skirt)
Silk organza (underlining)
Bemberg rayon (lining)
Satin (bias trim)
