This, friends, is my favourite of all the dresses I’ve sewn, or even owned, for that matter. It just makes me feel amazing. I particularly love wearing it to conferences which, in my line of work, consist mainly of middle aged men wearing boring suits and saying boring things. It’s probably a bit perverse of me, but swanning about in this among them cracks me right up!
For all that it’s just a super basic 60’s sheath (Simplicity 4602), done here in Verrrrry Expensive but lovely Italian wool from Tessuti. Since it was such a simple dress I put a lot of care into the construction, making balanced darts and the like.

Oh I love it! You look like Joan from Mad Men! What’s the name of the fabric from Tessuti?

Thank you! The funny thing is I barely needed to make any fit alterations to the pattern at all – just slightly shortened the bust darts and fin!
