Burn Out Velvet Blouse

Added Nov 30, 2017

This was my November Mash Up where I made #108B from the 11/2017 issue. I sewed it using sweater knit for the sleeves and yoke, burn out velvet for the front and back velvet, and then black jersey for the front lining.

I also sewed a “hack” version of this blouse, because I sewed it in knits and eliminated some of the more intricate details like the sleeve cuffs and placket. This was a complicated blouse, but the way I made it, it only took me a couple of hours to sew! I do want to make another version with the sleeves in a sheer organza type fabric that gathers into the cuffs like the original pattern. For this one I left the sleeve hems open for a flowy loose fitting sleeve. I love how this top turned out and will get tons of wear out of it this up coming holiday season.

Material Notes

Burn out velvet, sweater knit, jersey.
