My husband has difficulties finding shirts that fit him well so I decided to make him one. I started of by downscalling the Jakob pattern down two sizes and making a mock, adjusting some measurements and then cracking on with the real thing. Good fun and a steep learning curve (I had never tried two-piece collars AND proper set on sleeves AND buttonholes…).
Burgundy cotton-linen mix (bought in Portugal) and second-hand buttons, both picked by the hubby.
me and Burdastyle for the pattern!

It looks like you achieved a good fit around the sholders and armscye. How easy was it to downscale two sizes?

Easy on paper, just measured the size differences and used my french ruler. However it still required a lot of tweeking on the muslin and ideally it should have been a bit lonher and more fitted on the back but I though darts might spoil the retro look.

How nice of you to make a shirt for your husband. It looks like it was store bought. Good job. = )
