This is my entry for the BurdaStyle Sewing Vintage Modern Contest 2013 – The Jamie shift dress.
Being a novice sewer and loving the whole 1960s vibe this was the perfect pattern for me. I found the instructions in the book were well written and easy to follow.
I mainly kept to the pattern and only changed the zip to an exposed bright pink zip. I really struggle with zips but I just about managed to put this one in by combining a few internet tutorials and using the technique of ‘making it up as you go along’. This is probably the best zip I’ve ever done and I’m pleased to say that this dress is actually wearable!
The fabric is a grey herringbone tweed with silver threads running through it.

Beautifully done! And great job on the zipper, they are definitly intimidating when you first start sewing (well they were for me) but it looks like you are allready on your way to awesome zippers! This zipper is very well done, congrats! I like the bright pink, the pop of color really looks cool.
