I love wrap dresses and this wrap won me over as soon as I saw those draped sleeves, making them however wasn’t easy and I still think I haven’t done all the drapes properly, but anyway I love it!! Dress made from 100% silk and styled with a headband I made along with the beautiful model. The shoes are made by Dames & Divas… www.damesanddivas.com.au

Well, you might think those drapes aren’t done properly but I think they are perfection! You have done a great job and I am glad you aren’t parting with it. Really – I think you are incredible – that you saw the pattern, couldn’t get the pattern and drafted it yourself. I am in awe of your fabulous skills and dress. I can only imagine how difficult this fabric would be to work with. xx PS those shoes are very cute – now I am off to check out that site . . ..

I like your silk version, however for those thinking of using this pattern , the best material for this dress, I think,is a very slinky jersey- I saw a few versions of this dress online and the slinky jersey is most flattering. here is a photo gallery (click on top left thumbnail and then you can navigate between them. Also by clicking on the image it will open in an enlarged version and clicking on it again will show a small version again. This is from Russian Burda Style site

What a stunner of a dress! I love the rouched arms and shoulders in that beautiful slinky black crepe-y silk. Like everyone else, I’m very covetous of it! So much so, I wondered which Burda magazine it came from (I assume with the pattern number it did?)?

THANK YOU… it’s from Dec 2010. I tried to find it on BStyle site before actually having to create the pattern myself, but this issue wasn’t uploaded. I don’t enjoy making the burdamag patterns, my eyes go fuzzy with all those lines!

I love the sleeves! They’re so unusual and unexpected. I don’t know anything about draping, but I think you did it right!

working with the slippery silk didn’t help, but the drapes (whether right or wrong) came out looking good I think, MANY THANKS

I’m really glad someone made this dress. It’s such an unusual silouette. Good work!

thanks, it took time and loads of patience as there is also a lot of hand stitching, working with black thread and black fabric wasn’t easy for my weary eyes to focus, but made it in the end!

THXX, the back is just as special, feels lovely to wear and I recommend anyone to take the time and make this.

Good luck with the website. I know how hard networking and marketing can be. I’ve been trying to market Gabriele’s Boutique as well. Burda Style has been great for inspiration and networking as well as finding new friends with the same ambitions and talent in sewing.

I’ve missed the first comment, but the dress actually isn’t for sale. I was simply placing a link to my gallery website as the headbands and shoes are for sale in store, also as it’s a new business I’m trying to promote the web as much as possible. If you check my web or Facebook page I haven’t advertised the dress.
P.S. Thanks Gabriele, I love this dress too much to part with it, the fabric is stunning plus I don’t think I could mass produce those sleeves!!
