Description

This dress only came about because i mislaid the magazine with the one i wanted to make in it lol.i was reading this one and loved the dress. the ones i have seen on here are all gorgeous so i thought why not!! i bought 5 metres of this fabric for about .£18 and it reminds me of xmas (red and green) .i love this dress and i will definatly do a solid colour to show the detail better. it fits like a dream and i got loads of compliments when i wore it and i have wore it twice now. a record for me as i have so many lol.A wiman stopped me and said “oh i love your dress!!” i said thank you i made it the previous night!! She laughed and i said no!! I really did make it!! She could’nt believe it which is a fabulous compliment. the top is made from the same pattern I just lengthened it and added a band. I have enough fabric left fir a oencil skirt so what a bargain x

I was wondering if someone would just skip the zipper. It is jersey, and it does stretch, so I say if you can get away with skipping it, do it! :-) I would worry if the jersey was not heavy duty enough that the zipper attached to the back would cause a “ripple” sort of effect. I will most likely use a heavier wool jersey with mine if I add the zipper. There is also the Burda 2/2012 #117A that I want to make. I have a heavy Calvin Klein jersey in a really dark green (almost looks black) that I will be using, and I am trying to decide if I want to make this dress out of it, or the #117A! I hate it when that happens! Two great dresses, and one fabric and I can’t decide! LOL!

This dress pattern is on "my to do " list. I love how you are rocking yours!! Fabulous job! Did you use a regular zipper in the back, or the “fashion” type that is exposed from the outside? I finally found the “exposed” type and in the right length, and a place that makes them custom to what ever size you want. Your dress came out marvelous! The top is so cute. :-)

Thank you so much. I got away with no zipper because it has a slight width way stretch and a v neck i could slip t on and of . I normally line my dresses but this time i just made a slip to wear under it. This is a really great dress pattern. The folded front skirt sections give it such a good body fit. Finding somewhere that does exposed zippers to any length is brillant. I bought a few long black ones and i hope to use one on an xmss dress. I look forward to seeing yours x

I love this dress too! What a wonderful thing to hear when people compliment you right? It’s just so encouraging. And I can’t ignore the beautiful photo of your family and of course the sweet little cat. I have to say, I mark my Burda patterns just like you do. The issue date, the pattern part, etc! Sew on my cat lovin’ friend!

Oh, so it’s a she :) She really is the cutest kitler ever!
I have a cat as well, she was domestic when we adopted her but oddly enough, she turned pretty feral during the years :DDD

Yup its a she lol. I have two other cats fizz whos 4 abd deaf and toffee whos the same age as inky. 7 months. Inky is the most gentle purring machine and has settled in well these past 3 weeks. We got her neutered so that helped. You will see all my cats in my projects as they love to sit on my patterns fabric etc for some strange reason lol. Do you still have your cat x

Oh yes, Lulu is 3 years old and very alive and well, with prominent tendency to reign over us all :DDD such a cat :)
She’s also a big fan of my sewing, love to participate in every phase of it! Adores the tracing paper! Also has a habit of sitting behind the machine while I work and trying to catch a needle, it’s a constant war :D

It is early in the morning here in Australia and Mary, you have made me laugh with your wonderful way of living your life. You cracked me up with this dress and top.Only you sew up more dresses than anyone outside a huge clothing factory. I love this dress too and once again you have made a dress from a pattern that I have completely overlooked and now realize is a great pattern. No wonder the lady in the street stopped you and said what a great dress you are wearing!! That is a beautiful photo of your Mum, daughter and yourself. And of course your lovely little cat.
