This is the three quarter sleeve lace dress from Burda Magazine 7/2011 (http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/072011-three-quarter-sleeve-lace-dress). I made it up in denim instead of lace, with black piping and an exposed zipper.

Dear Sewinginthewind, I had a lot of problems with this dress! I was inspired by your nice result, however, I selected the smallest size from the pattern and it was very wide, it was like a bag. So I just cut off some centimeters from the side, but than I had too much fabric on the back. So it feels a little bit like a bag around my body and is not very flattering.

I wondered what this would look like in a different material, and had been toying with the idea of making it but in the end decided for another pattern, but I love what you have done ! Looks great and leaving the front seam out makes it much better. Good job !

Great to see a version without the lace…I’m planning to sew this too! I really like the way it turned out!

Love it! And just as patti-r says, your version looks better. I like that you have eliminated the front seam. (Was that easily done?)

Thank you! The front is actually one continuous piece on the pattern – you have to divide it to make the waist seam – so it’s very easy to eliminate the front seam. I also removed quite a bit of length and depth from the pockets and shortened the waist by about an inch — both very easily done too.

Absolutely love your dress! I have been wanting to make this pattern up too so it is great to see the pattern come to real life… :) Thanks for sharing. Lou
