My first attempt at a Burda pattern! I am quite pleased with this dress which was fairly easy to sew. I had some trouble fitting the bodice front so that it didn’t gape. To remedy this, I made some piping to attach to the neckline and sleeves! I quite like the effect!
Dress material: Black Linen
Polka dot self made piping

Just made the very same dress (will download pictures later today) and had the same problem with the top part. Only idea I could come up with was some darts which seem to have helped. Next time will try jane’s suggestions. anyway, love your version of this dress ! very pretty with the piping

this is just wonderful! fantastically retro. i understand about the gape at the neckline, while i have boobs, i have a very bony chest. for this dress, you could add some darts from the neckline; put the dress on inside out, and pin, it’s really easy to do. for future dresses or tops, when cutting the pattern, keep the waist centre line of the pattern on the fabric fold, and put your neck centre line about a centimeter over the fabric fold; this takes away the gaping. or, you could cut a dart to the armpit, and fold away a centimeter of the pattern, just redraw your neck line after. i hope this helps!
