Well, I used some shirting scrap fabric for this, but I think both are rather heavy weight for this pattern, and I think I could have made it a size smaller. It kind of looks like half a mummu…. or a maternity dress.
I turned under the edges of the cap sleeves and did some decorative scalloped machine top stitching. I embellishing the front panel with a hand embroidered keyhole motif. I liked making the shirt a little bit special in that way. I think I would try selective embroidery again.
Blue Cotton Chambray, yellow cotton shirting - leftovers from other projects. Embroidery floss. Cotton thread.

I’ve tried to add close ups of the embroidery, but alas… the dreaded 404 error!

Yea, did this too and had to take it in a bunch and add grommets at the back for a tie, and it’s still a bit mummu-ish. Yours is cute!

Whoa, I am literally in the process of finishing my version of this- its like you’re psychic! Did you have alot of trouble getting that oddly shaped piece into the front panel? It took me about an hour this morning…

I didn’t have too much trouble. I did take my time getting the gathers just-so (double rows of basting stitches really do help). I find that finicky steps aren’t to terrible if you just take your time and break it down into steps.

Beautiful job. Love the embroidery! I did the dress version of this pattern and it really looks like a mummu. I think the pattern runs really large

Really nice. Love the keyhole embroidery and the combination of white and blue fabric!
